Backup

3-2-1 strategy, immutable backups against ransomware and documented restore tests. An untested backup is not a backup.

A backup is not worth anything for having been made, it is worth something for being restored. We build a complete strategy and — this is the part almost nobody does — we test the restore regularly and give you the result in writing.

How we set it up

The 3-2-1 rule

Three copies, on two different media, with one off site. That is the minimum for sleeping soundly.

Immutable backups

Retention that not even ransomware with administrator credentials can delete.

Restore tests

We restore for real in an isolated environment and document how long it took and what came back.

What it includes

  • A fast local copy for day-to-day restores
  • An encrypted off-site copy for a disaster at your premises
  • Retention adapted to your legal obligations
  • Microsoft 365 backup (email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams)
  • Automatic daily verification of the state of the backup
  • A recovery plan with RTO and RPO agreed in writing

The targets we agree with you

RPO — how much data you can afford to loseFrom 15 minutes to 24 hours
RTO — how long it takes you to be backFrom 1 hour to 24 hours
RetentionDaily, weekly, monthly and yearly
EncryptionAES-256 at source, in transit and at destination

Frequently asked questions

I already have backups, what do I need you for?
The important question is not whether you have backups, it is when you last restored one. In most of the audits we run, the backup exists but it doesn’t restore, or it doesn’t cover everything.
Doesn’t Microsoft 365 already back up my email?
Not as such. Microsoft guarantees the service, not your data: if someone deletes a mailbox and the retention period runs out, it is gone. Backing up 365 is the customer’s responsibility.
How often do you test the restore?
Quarterly on the Critical plan, every six months on the rest. Always with a signed report.

Shall we look at your specific case?

30 minutes with an engineer, no strings attached. We will tell you what we would improve and what we would leave alone.
